The Steinway & Sons Podcast
Natasha Paremski
Natasha Paremski’s recent release on the Steinway & Sons label pairs Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition with a work written expressly for her by Fred Hersch: Variations on a Theme by Tchaikovsky. The pianist discussed tackling these works with Ben Finane, our Editor in Chief and Editor in Chief at listenmusicculture.com, at Steinway Hall in New York City, hours before she performed the Mussorgsky and Hersch in the Steinway Recital Hall.
‘The beauty of the ‘piano version’ of Pictures at an Exhibition is that it leaves more to the listener’s imagination to think about the imagery and all the gossamer things an orchestra can’t achieve.’
